I got to return to Asheville, one of my favorite places, for this gorgeous session! I had so much fun with my couple, who came in from Ohio to visit one of their favorite places as well. First, we stopped by Looking Glass Falls, a popular spot right off the parkway. Then we drove up to Black Balsam Knob. If you've never been to this part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with its amazing 360-degree views, you have not seen the best of Asheville. Each step up, we were greeted with even more amazing views than the last. This was definitely a photographer's dream location, and I hope I get to return someday for another shoot!

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to capture these emotions on camera. The groom-to-be Kelly did an amazing job setting up and decorating the backyard of his now-fiancée Megan's parents' backyard. The end result was so genuine and sweet!

I met up with Alex & Matt on a gorgeous fall afternoon for their downtown engagement session. This is one of my favorite places in Durham to shoot. There are so many cool elements, including the amazing water feature.

I knew them before they were "Leslie and Kyle." I went to school with this sweet couple and saw their relationship develop over the years. They've had to spend the last year doing long-distance with Leslie all the way in Seattle and Kyle in Chapel Hill. Kyle flew out there one weekend this spring and had a beautiful setting of photos and candles (and a ring!) waiting for Leslie when she got home. She said yes, and I am honored and excited to be capturing their wedding in Raleigh this November!

I had a great time hanging out and exploring Hillsborough with these wonderful, easygoing people, who also happen to be crazy in love and extremely photogenic (a great combination)! Ayr Mount is a serene and lush setting, right around the corner of downtown Hillsborough! I'm so glad Stephanie & Jonah introduced me to this hidden gem. The weather was also exceptionally perfect and a photographer's dream. Hope you enjoy looking at these images as I had creating them!

I usually don't post long stories on here as I let the photos do the telling, but I have to give a little background information about this couple and why I'm so thrilled to be photographing this adorable couple. In 2007, I met Erica's older sister Lauren and her then-boyfriend Joe during my junior year at UNC. In 2009, Lauren & Joe got engaged! I was just starting my fledgling photography business at the time and offered to take some photos of them. After showing the photos to her family, Lauren emailed me saying that her little sister (who was not engaged or had a boyfriend at the time) said she wanted me to take her engagement photos, whenever that would be. In 2011, I met Erica (who had not met Matt at the time) at Lauren & Joe's wedding. Last fall, Lauren got in touch with me again and told me that Erica was engaged and she wanted me to take her engagement & wedding photos! I am so honored that they thought of me years later and can't wait to work with their families again! (P.S. Lauren & Joe recently added a beautiful baby girl to their family, whom I'll hopefully get to meet at the wedding this fall!)

Sam had planned to propose to Ashley at one of their favorite restaurants. It was so sweet of him to make sure everything was in place for the main event. Arguably the bigger surprise was that he had planned a trip to Disney World for the two of them...leaving straight from the restaurant to the airport!

Craggy Gardens & Biltmore Estate • Asheville Engagement Photographer

Spending the weekend with my friends Karen & Austin in beautiful fall Asheville weather made this an extra-special and fun session! We toured the famous Biltmore Estate and hiked up to the top of a mountain, where they bravely climbed onto the edge! The gorgeous scenery was a photographer's dream and we stopped very often for photo ops. Be sure to check out Benji's (the dog of honor) big moment toward the end!

I love Corgis. And I was extremely excited to get to meet Toby the Corgi pup/teenager and her humans Shannon & Richard. She kept us on our toes with her almost-boundless energy. I love when humans bring their furry family members on these shoots; it's almost impossible to come away without some good moments!

Sometimes you meet a couple who just has "it." You can see how in love they are as soon as you meet them. We got along instantly and they were complete naturals in front of the lens. How much fun you see is how much fun we all had. I cannot wait to be a part of their beautiful beach wedding next week!

I had the pleasure of hanging out with this adorably sweet couple in Asheville. We almost had to reschedule due to rain, but the cloud passed just in time. In case you noticed why Heather is not wearing an engagement ring...well, her fiancé David got her an engagement baby grand piano instead! (It was a little too heavy to bring to the session, but would've made some amazing images.) I love unique proposal gifts!

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, this sweet couple and I were still able to find some beautiful photo ops around UNC. Eric just finished up his Ph.D program at the School of Public Health, which also happens to be a lovely building! I'm very excited to be capturing their ceremony in beautiful Banner Elk (near Asheville) this weekend. Fingers crossed that we will have lots of gorgeous sunshine!
